Arsenal vs Man Utd: FA Cup Preview

After the Gunners tormented the Red Devils from set-pieces in a 2-0 Premier League victory at the start of December, the two sides reconvene in north London for the start of their respective FA Cup journies.

Erik ten Hag guided the Red Devils to glory in this competition last year, a triumph which fatefully allowed him to continue in the job at the start of 2024/25. As we know, the Dutchman has since been replaced by Ruben Amorim and Sunday's visitors produced their best performance under his tutelage last Sunday as they claimed a 2-2 draw at Liverpool.

Arsenal have won the previous four meetings and have already triumphed over an Amorim-led Man Utd. Bukayo Saka was fit and swinging in fierce inswinging corners on that occasion, however. While the Gunners have had plenty of success against the Red Devils, United won the previous FA Cup meeting in January 2019.

With Arteta opting for a strong starting XI on Tuesday night and the upcoming North London Derby, there's bound to be some rotation on Sunday. 

Raheem Sterling was on the bench against Newcastle after a spell out and could be reintroduced here. At the same time, summer arrivals Mikel Merino and Riccardo Calafiori were also unused substitutes in midweek.

Man Utd team news

Marcus Rashford has been cast aside by Amorim and is searching for a move away this month, with United also missing Mason Mount, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof through injury.

Amorim can go as strong as he likes here and is unlikely to make too many changes from the team that performed superbly at Anfield.
