Premier League Matchday 33: Leicester City vs Liverpool Preview & Prediction

Relegation looms for Leicester City as they prepare to face Premier League leaders Liverpool at the King Power Stadium. The Foxes must win to keep their survival hopes alive, but facing the in-form Reds at this stage is a daunting task.
Liverpool, chasing their 20th English top-flight title, could be crowned champions if Arsenal slip up earlier in the day and they secure a win. If that happens, it would mark just the sixth time a team has won the title with five games to spare—Liverpool themselves last did so in 2019-20.
Leicester’s recent home form offers little optimism. They’ve lost their last eight Premier League home matches without scoring—an unwanted record in top-flight history. Only six teams have ever lost nine consecutive home games, with Southampton the latest to suffer such a run earlier this season.
The Foxes ended their eight-match losing streak and scoreless run with a 2-2 draw at Brighton last time out. It was their first Premier League goal and point since beating Tottenham back in January.
Now, they’re looking to avoid becoming the first top-flight team to go nine straight home games without scoring. Only Mansfield Town (1971) and Wolves (1984-85) have experienced such droughts in English league history.
Leicester also have a poor record on Easter Sunday, losing both of their previous league matches on the holiday. Liverpool, by contrast, have lost just once in 10 Easter Sunday league games, with seven wins and two draws.
All eyes will be on Mohamed Salah, who could make history. If he scores, he’ll break the single-season Premier League record for away goals (currently tied at 16). One more assist would also give him the most assists away in a single campaign.
Liverpool have also received a boost off the pitch, with Virgil van Dijk joining Salah in committing his future to the club. Trent Alexander-Arnold has returned to training, though he may not be fit enough to start.
Leicester vs Liverpool Head-to-Head:
Liverpool have won their last four league games against Leicester and have scored in 14 of their last 15 meetings. Leicester’s only two wins in their last 13 against Liverpool came in 2021—both at home. In the reverse fixture, Liverpool came from behind to win 3-1 at Anfield.
