Is It Just Me, or Is Time Moving Faster?

One moment it’s Monday, and the next, the week has vanished. Even January which used to be the most dreaded with sluggish days and some 157 days extra, felt so short and somehow, February is also following the same pattern, racing by. Is time really moving faster, or is it all just a figment of our imagination?
Science suggests that as we age, time seems to speed up because our brains process familiar experiences more efficiently. Remember how childhood felt endless? That’s because everything was new, and our brains were soaking in every detail. As adults, our routines become predictable, and time blurs together.
But here’s the good news—you can slow time down. Studies show that breaking out of routine, trying new activities, and being more present in everyday moments can make time feel fuller. Ever noticed how vacations seem longer than regular weeks? That’s because new experiences create stronger memories, making time feel more stretched.

So, if you feel like the days are slipping through your fingers, maybe it’s time to shake things up. Take a different route home, start a new hobby, or simply pause and notice the details around you. Because time isn’t actually moving faster, we are the ones just rushing through it.
Maybe today, instead of worrying about how quickly the week is going, take a deep breath and enjoy the moment. You might just slow time down a little.
